UNIX: Use SSH (Secure Shell) to connect to grid.ecel.ufl.edu
How To Export Display- Download and install an X-Server (X-Win32 for UF use)
- (If needed) Download and install an SSH client (Putty is lightweight and simple)
- Start the X-Server on your local machine (Xwin32 Settings for grid)
- (If needed) Start the SSH client and connect to grid.ecel.ufl.edu
- Determine the IP address of your local machine (called LOCALIP below)
- Enter the following in the SSH ecel client window export DISPLAY=LOCALIP:0
- If you are on a Private LAN then...
- Determine the IP address of your modem/outside connection (called OUTSIDEIP below)
- Determine the IP address of your local machine (called LOCALIP below)
- Configure your router to send Port 6000/tcp to LOCALIP
- Start the SSH client and connect to grid.ecel.ufl.edu
- Enter the following in the SSH client window export DISPLAY=OUTSIDEIP:0
Windows: Use RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to connect to cluster.ecel.ufl.edu
How To Share Local Resources In Remote Session- Run the RDP Client on local machine
- Under Options and Local Resources, simply select what you want to share
